I’ve decided to start something new here. Each week I am going to be looking back at the things that have happened as well as the things that have caught my attention. It is a way for me to journal the events in my life. It is not just for me though, feel free to post comments, stories, or thoughts, actually I would prefer it. I really enjoy hearing from others so if you see something in the future that catches your eye, let me know! Here we go.

- A giant blanket of snow (10 inches) was dumped on us this week and it was great! There’s just something about fresh snow that I enjoy. It was really dry and powdery so it didn’t make good snowballs or snowmen, but it was still great to see.
- Jessi and I took the opportunity, once the roads got cleaned up enough, to go out to a fish and wildlife area and take in nature at one of its most peaceful times. It was great to just stop and stare. There were birds in the area and animal tracks across through the snow on the frozen lakes. We saw a red-tailed hawk sitting in a tree as we drove through. It was amazing.
- We started planning our anniversary vacation this week. We are going to be going this summer, as long as everything works out. We are planning on going to Mackinac island in Michigan. Neither one of us have ever been there and it looked like a really neat place. We are trying to get our room booked early before everybody else decides to take their vacation on the same days.
- The stresses at work are starting to disappear, which is a very good thing. There are times when I don’t like that job, and other times when its great, and luckly 90% of the year it is great.
- I got to spend a lot of time with Jessi this week since her place of work was closed due to the weather. That was a great modification to our normal schedule.
That is all that I have for this week. Time to get ready for the Super Bowl!

Last night on my way with my wife for our date, we stopped by one of my favorite places, close to where we live. This Fish and Wildlife Area, known just as “Chinook,” was very peaceful with a fresh blanket of snow. Here are some shots:

An ice covered lake with a wooded backdrop.
Chinook’s largest lake, with a large woods around it.
One of the highlights of the trip was seeing a large redtail hawk sitting in a bare tree very close to the road, unfortunately he flew the coop before we could get a picture.
Clicking the pictures will take you to my Google Photo Album where you can see more of the pictures that we took. Enjoy!

I was reading a great article by Mark Batterson the other day and it really seemed to fit some of the things that have been going on lately in my life.
The article was discussing the topic of God’s will, mainly in jobs and careers. I am fairly certain that I am in the career field that I am meant to be in and there are several factors that play into that thinking. I enjoy the field that I am in, it allows me to help people, and I believe that I am good at it. While I am in the field that I want to be in, I’m not sure that I’m in the job that I want to be in.
I’ve been attempting to determine where I’m supposed to be. And…right now, I have nothing. I know that my current position is not something that I want to do forever, but it encompasses a lot of different things which allows me to determine where I ant to focus. The following text from Mark’s article helped me understand a little bit of what was going on.
“Feeling called to and released from don’t always happen simultaneously. In fact, they rarely do! If you feel called to something, but don’t feel released from where you are, then you need to stay put.”
Just because I know that I want to do something a little bit different, that doesn’t mean that I have to do something different right now. I definitely feel released from this position personally, if something came up today I feel like I could leave, but it may not be time for me to leave. Change will come when it is time, and when that time comes I will know.
So what am I being held where I’m at to accomplish, there’s something, I just have to find out what it is. I’m on an amazing ride and I can’t wait to see where it goes.
Where are you at?

Last night at eXchange something was said that really made me think.
The difference between a dream and a fantasy is the action. If we do not have any action then our dreams are just a fantasy. Over the years I’ve had several dreams, but through the changes the dreams also got changed.
What really got to me though is my current dreams, the ones that I’m thinking about right now. If I do not do anything to move towards them, then they will likely just turn into fantasies. Action is the key.
What do you think?

I’ve been away for a little while, spending time recovering from a rather harsh cold and from a very busy week at work. So hopefully, I will be able to get some writing in at some point. Very short post, for now.
