This handy little tool is now available in beta to the public.  Evernote allows you to grab bits of a page, or an entire page, and automatically push your selection to a digital notebook under your Evernote user account.  This has a lot of potential for students and researchers who use the web as a primary source of information.  You can now go through websites and grab the information you need rather than printing an entire page, bookmarking the url, or writing down the information you need.  Their link is below.

Let God speak

The past few months have been spent adjusting to a new job, a new apartment, and recovering from a flood.  One thing that I’ve found throughout all of this adjusting is that God can be seen in everything.  I’ve spent quite a bit of time lately studying and trying to determine what God’s purpose for my life is.  I feel that he is leading my life towards something, I’m just not sure what that is yet.

I’ve been wanting to write about this for a while, I just hadn’t got around to it.  One tool that I’ve found to be very useful throughout this process, and will continue to be, is life journaling.  My wife and I have started attending eXchange at Maryland Community Church and learned about this type of studying through their support for it.

Life journaling is a method of journaling that has allowed me to look at various scriptures and find what God has to say to me through them.  You take some scripture that you just read and pick a verse out of it that you feel God is trying to speak to you through and write it down.  This allows for a bigger piece of scripture to be broken down into a smaller piece that is easier to think about.  You then write some about the scripture and what you think it is speaking to you.

There are many avenues in which you can journal, I choose to do mine on a computer.  The main reason that I use a computer, is that I can type a lot faster than I can write.  You can use any word processing tool to write, I choose to use Microsoft OneNote that comes with some versions of Microsoft Office Suite.  There are online tools that you can use, just search for online journaling.  Many of the online services are free and therefore would not be practical for somebody who is starting out in journaling.  You can also use the computer to follow a reading schedule that is provided by the church that started the life journaling and that can be found here.

Journaling has never been a regular thing in my life, and honestly, I didn’t think that it would make that much of a difference in my studying of scripture, but it has allowed me to retain more thoughts about God’s plan for my life, and many things that just reading would not have allowed me to hear.  Journaling has now become a daily thing for me, and I highly encourage anybody, who is seeking to hear what God has to say, to look into this and give it a shot, it has changed the way that God speaks to me.

If you would like more information about this there are some resources below where you can find more information.  Feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about it as well.

The renovation of a piece of history.

Been awhile

Its been a while since I’ve been able to post anything, not that I haven’t had the time, but that I haven’t had topics to write about on my mind.  Its been a little bit hectic around here with getting things organized in our new apartment, getting adjusted to a new job, and getting other little details lined out.

I’ve had a lot of things poking around in my mind and hopefully I’ll be able to put some of them down in writing at some point.  My wife and I are working to set up our lives to be happy and most of all, the way that God wants our lives to be.  He has been calling us in a few directions and we’re figuring out how to follow them.  Until later…
